It's that time of the year where it seems like everyone has a cold or is worried about catching one. This simple recipe is a perfect cozy concoction. I got the idea for it from a cute coffee shop in India a few years back, they had this fresh ginger honey lemonade that would have all the goodness at the bottom of the glass and you'd stir up the contents yourself. I had one every single day that I was in Kerala.

What you need:
1 tsp or more of fresh ginger root
1 tsp Organic lemon juice
1 tbsp of raw organic honey (I use Beekeeper's Naturals)
8 oz of fresh boiled water
Strainer/loose leaf tea infuser
Herbal tea (optional)
1. Peel and mince ginger root into small pieces and add to tea infuser. If you do not have infuser add the teacup. Let it steep for at least 5 minutes. Use spoon to muddle the ginger in the mug. If using herbal tea add that to mug now.
2. Strain out the tea and ginger or remove infuser.
3. Add honey, lemon juice and sip.
This tonic is great first thing in the morning before coffee to aide digestion, boost metabolism and soothe throat. Or in the evening after eating as a dessert tonic. For evening time I use this honey.
